Through Every Tile

At AQS, Granite & Marble undergo rigorous testing — from raw materials to final finish.
Our quality control process ensures your walls reflect not just beauty, but trust

Granite & Marble

Granite and marble are prized for their natural beauty, distinctive patterns, and exceptional durability, making them the preferred choice for luxury flooring, countertops, staircases, and architectural cladding. However, due to natural variations and manual processing, inconsistencies in color, thickness, polish, and edge quality are common, posing challenges for high-end installations.

At AQS, we specialize in inspecting granite and marble slabs, tiles, and cut-to-size pieces, ensuring each product meets strict standards for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and structural integrity. Our meticulous inspection process minimizes the risk of mismatches, damage, and installation issues, delivering premium, export-ready stone products for international markets.

AQS Testing Parameters
AQS Inspection Process for
Granite & Marble

We implement specialized inspection protocols to verify the dimensional precision, surface consistency, and mechanical strength of full body porcelain tiles. Our rigorous checks ensure each tile is built to withstand heavy traffic while maintaining uniform color and texture throughout the tile body.

Factory Visit & Production Readiness Check

We start by verifying:

  • Order-wise production status
  • Segregation of slabs/tiles by type, size, and finish
  • Proper marking for each bundle or lot (e.g., Black Galaxy, White Marble, Tan Brown)

01

Stock & Bundle
Verification in Warehouse

We inspect:

  • Safe vertical storage of slabs using A-frames
  • Labeling of bundles with size, quantity, and material
  • Packing condition for tiles (wooden crates, plastic wrap, foam corners)

02

Random Sampling of
Slabs / Tiles

Samples are chosen based on AQL standards

  • Slabs from different bundles
  • Tiles from top, middle, and bottom of crates
  • Cut-to-size pieces across multiple orders (for kitchen tops, window sills, etc.)

03

Surface Quality
Inspection

Slabs and tiles are laid flat or stood upright under light to check:

  • Surface finish (polished, honed, leathered, flamed, etc.)
  • Gloss consistency (for polished products)
  • Visible defects like cracks, open veins, resin fill marks, cloudy polish, dull spots
  • Natural variation and whether it's within acceptable client tolerance
  • Pattern matching for book-matched or vein-cut materials

04

Edge & Corner
Quality Check

We examine:

  • Edge cutting precision — clean and straight edges without chipping
  • Corner sharpness and protection — especially in large slabs or export tiles
  • Chamfering or bevel finish, if applicable
  • Consistent edge finish for countertops and staircase treads

05

Thickness
Measurement

Thickness Measurement

  • Tile and slab thickness (typically 15–20 mm or custom sizes)
  • Uniformity across pieces
  • Uniformity across pieces

06

Size & Diagonal
Accuracy

We measure:

  • Length and width of tiles or cut pieces
  • Diagonal accuracy for square alignment
  • Size consistency across a batch — important for flooring or cladding work

07

Backside
Quality Check

We check the back of each tile/slab for:

  • Proper calibration (in factory-finished tiles)
  • Mesh backing quality (for fragile marble or book-match materials)
  • Clean surface for adhesive bonding
  • No excess dust, glue, or resin clumps that affect installation

08

Color & Shade
Variation Evaluation

Natural stone comes with variation — but it must be within project requirements.

We assess:

  • Shade matching across slabs or crate sets
  • Grain direction and pattern alignment (especially in flooring or wall panel projects)
  • Suitability for wall cladding systems, elevation mounting, or Sorting errors that could cause visual mismatch during installation

09

Gloss / Polish
Consistency Test

For polished surfaces, we test:

  • Gloss level using gloss meter (target gloss > 85–90 for granite, 80–85 for marble)
  • Uniform polish without dull patches or swirl marks
  • Proper reflection and mirror finish in bright lighting

10

Crack Detection &
Structural Integrity

We perform:

  • Tapping test for hidden cracks or hollow sound
  • Visual inspection for resin-filled veins or glue lines
  • Field-level stress check for weak points in thin or large slabs

11

Packaging & Export
Safety Check

We verify:

  • Use of foam sheets or plastic separators
  • Crate strength and nail fixing quality
  • Edge protection and anti-slip wedges in bundles
  • Accurate labeling and barcode, if required
  • Container load plan (if final packing is complete)

12

Final Inspection
Report

Our detailed report includes:

  • Photos of surface, edges, defects, packing
  • Size and thickness charts
  • Gloss readings (if polished)
  • Quantity verified and batch observations
  • Inspector comments and approval/rework status

Delivered to the client within 24 hours.

Why AQS for Granite & Marble Inspection?

Natural stones like granite and marble are visually striking yet inherently inconsistent, making precise inspection essential to prevent costly installation errors and client complaints. A single misaligned pattern, uneven thickness, or cracked slab can disrupt entire projects, leading to delays and reputational damage.

At AQS, we specialize in detecting these inconsistencies early, ensuring every piece meets strict standards for cutting accuracy, thickness uniformity, and polish consistency. Our meticulous inspections cover surface quality, pattern alignment, and export packaging, guaranteeing that each shipment is ready to install and aligns with luxury project expectations.
