Glazed Porcelain Tiles

Glazed Porcelain Tiles, including GVT (Glazed Vitrified Tiles) and PGVT (Polished Glazed Vitrified Tiles), are premium ceramic products renowned for their high-definition printing, impeccable surface finish, and exceptional durability. Widely used in luxury residential, commercial, and public spaces, these tiles are available in major export sizes such as 60x60 cm and 60x120 cm.

At AQS, we conduct rigorous inspections of GVT and PGVT tiles, covering every aspect from surface appearance and dimensional accuracy to strength testing and slip resistance. With over 75% of our QC inspections focused on these high-demand tiles, we ensure defect-free shipments that meet international quality standards.

AQS Testing Parameters
AQS Inspection Process for
Glazed Porcelain Tiles

We implement specialized inspection protocols for GVT and PGVT tiles, focusing on surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical strength. Our detailed checks ensure each tile meets international quality standards, delivering flawless, export-ready products for premium markets.

Factory Visit & Production Readiness Check

Our inspection starts with a hysical visit to the manufacturing plant to verify that the entire production quantity is ready for inspection. We check:

  • Produced quantity vs. client order
  • Batches arranged by size and design (60x60 cm, 60x120 cm)
  • Proper identification of pallets and segregated lots

01

Warehouse
Stock Inspection

We verify that:

  • Finished material is properly stored and not mixed
  • Shade and batch stickers are visible and aligned
  • Stock is stacked safely, minimizing damage during storage

02

AQL-Based
Random Sampling

Random boxes are selected using AQL standards based on lot size. Boxes are chosen from:

  • Top, middle, and bottom rows of pallets
  • Multiple pallets from different production batches This ensures no pre-selected or hand-picked tiles are used to mislead quality checks.

03

Box Weight
Measurement

Each selected box is weighed using a calibrated digital scale. We compare actual weight to standard weight charts to detect:

  • Under-filled boxes
  • Moisture-affected tiles
  • Non-uniform packing Atypical weights are documented and flagged for re-check

04

Transfer to Inspection
Area (QC Zone)

Boxes are brought to the factory’s designated QC area, which must :

  • Be clean, level, and well-lit
  • Allow multiple tiles to be laid flat for testing
  • Provide enough space to simulate full-size tile installation (especially for 60x120 cm tiles)

05

Box Artwork & External
Label Check

We check the packaging for:

  • Design code, finish type (GVT or PGVT)
  • Shade number, size, quantity per box
  • Manufacturing date, batch code, factory details
  • Exporter or client branding (if private-labeled) All elements must match client-approved artwork and PO terms.

06

Internal Packaging &
Protection Inspection

Internal packaging must prevent tile damage in shipping and handling. We check for:

  • Surface protector sheets (paper/foam between each tile)
  • Corner spacers/protectors (especially for 60x120 cm tiles)
  • TileTile face direction uniformity (print-up or print-down)
  • Clean stacking, no loose tiles or debris inside box

Improper internal packaging is documented with photos and client notified

07

Tile Laying for
Visual Assessment

Tiles from each selected box are laid out on a flat surface to simulate real installation. This critical step reveals defects not visible inside packaging.

We check

  • Shade consistency between boxes
  • ColorGloss level variation (especially in PGVT)
  • Design alignment (e.g., book-match, vein patterns)
  • Surface defects: black spots, printing errors, glaze waves, chipping, air bubbles, dullness
  • Grout joint visibility and uniformity
  • Edge rectification quality

We document even minor variations and note if they’re random or batch-specific

08

Reference Master
Tile Matching

The laid tiles are compared with the client-approved reference tile (master sample) to verify:

  • Exact design match (including grain direction or texture)
  • Color tone and surface finish consistency
  • Gloss or matt finish value This avoids surprises upon container opening by the importer.

09

Dimensional & Technical
Testing (As Per ISO Standards)

Using multiple-point measurements, we check:

  • Size, Diagonal, and Thickness (ISO 10545-2)
  • Flatness & Warpage (ISO 10545-2)
  • Water Absorption (ISO 10545-3)
  • Breaking Strength / Modulus of Rupture (ISO 10545-4)
  • Surface Abrasion / PEI Rating (ISO 10545-7)
  • Scratch Resistance (Mohs Scale)
  • Gloss Meter (L Value or GU Reading)
  • Marker/Stain Resistance
  • Slip Resistance (R-Rating or Wet Test)

10

Final Reporting &
Quality Verdict

Within 24 hours, AQS provides a full inspection report containing:

  • Detailed findings
  • Size and lab test results
  • Defect photos (with remarks)
  • Shade variation and finish comparison
  • Inspector conclusion: Approved / Conditional / Re-inspection Needed

Why Importers Trust AQS for Inspections

Glazed porcelain tiles are showcased in premium, high-visibility areas where even minor defects can significantly impact the final installation. At AQS, our extensive experience in inspecting 60x60 and 60x120 cm tiles ensures that clients avoid costly issues like shade mismatches, chipped edges, joint visibility problems, and surface inconsistencies.

By thoroughly inspecting each batch for gloss uniformity, stain resistance, and structural integrity, we help importers prevent return penalties and maintain brand reputation. With AQS, you don’t just get an inspection — you get a safeguard against product complaints and shipment rejections.
